What prompted us to do this work?
As brother and sister, we have visited India every other year for the past 16 years. Every time we are there, we have noticed the impoverished children who live in extreme conditions and don't have access to healthcare or even fundamental food and clothing. Working at the Safdarjung Hospital, we were really able to understand children and their families who face unfortunate circumstances every day. It was important for us to be able to contribute to our communities in India and the United States who don't have basic necessities, and so we began RoshanCare Foundation, Inc., named after our beloved late grandfather, Roshan Lal Jain.
How will our funds be used?
The funds collected through donations and through our annual fundraising talent show "Jhoom Beats" will be utilized to clothing and food to two child orphanages (Anathalayas) located in Daryaganj, New Delhi, India, and a school for the blind. Funds will also be used to create Hindi and Math workbooks for these children to gain basic education.
Some of the funds will be distributed to provide food supplies to Food Banks in Monmouth and Mercer Counties in New Jersey. Donations to food banks will benefit senior citizens, disabled residents, the unemployed, low-income families, teenagers at risk and the homeless who are at constant risk of not having food for daily meals.
Our Goal and Vision
We strongly believe that by creating this non-profit organization, we will be able to formally expand our desire and vision to help underprivileged and uninsured children, families, and populations in both the United States and India.
Over time with the expansion of RoshanCare, we wish to provide medical supplies and treatments through free clinics and medical camps.
We may not be able to remove hunger, healthcare gaps, and education inequality everywhere, but if our efforts make even the slightest contribution to better situations, we will feel accomplished.
